Consular Legalization

Legalization is a procedure used when a Vietnamese document needs to be certified for official use abroad. Each document requires a double certification: first by the authorities of Vietnam and secondly by the authorities of the country where the documents will be used (the receiving country). This second certification, which is generally provided by the embassy or consulate representing the receiving country in Vietnam, confirms the first certification and so validates the document for official use in the receiving country.

Certified Translation

Where Vietnamese documents are to be used abroad and where the receiving country has a different official language, a sworn or certified may also be required. Isarey takes care of any certified translations required as part of the document attestation process, ensuring that translations are carried out and certified in accordance with local regulations.

On 31 December 2025, the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam deposited its instrument of accession to the Convention of 5 October 1961 Abolishing the Requirement of Legalisation for Foreign Public Documents (1961 Apostille Convention). The Convention will enter into force for Viet Nam on 11 September 2026.
