Yes - Barbados is a member of the Apostille Convention.

Barbados documents can be legalized for use abroad with an Apostille Stamp when destined for other signatory countries without additional certification by the destination country.

When Barbados documents are required for non-apostille countries, such as United Arab Emirates - Taiwan - Malaysia - Thailand - Qatar they need additional authentication by the embassy of the destination country.

Legalizing a document in Barbados certifies the authenticity of the signature appearing on the document as that of an authorized public official in Barbados and confirms the capacity of that official.

• Because Barbados is a member of the Apostille Convention, Barbados documents can be legalized by means of an Apostille Stamp when being submitted to countries that are also members of the Hague Apostille Convention
• If a Barbados document is required for a country that is not a member of the Apostille Convention, it will need to be legalized both by Barbados authorities and by the embassy of the recipient country (embassy in Barbados or non-resident embassy accredited to Barbados).

To obtain an Apostille for a Barbados marriage, death or birth certificate, it is necessary to provide the original certificate or a certified copy issued by the Registrar of the Supreme Court. To obtain an Apostille to authenticate a Barbados Police Certificate, the digital certificate is required, with valid QR code. No paper certificate is required.

Barbados criminal record certificates (Police Certificates of Character) can be obtained inline from the Barbados Police Service. Fees must be paid in cash at a Barbados post office or online with an EZPay+ account. Certificates are issued digitally with a QR code for verification.

Barbados Certificates of Character are valid for six months.

Barbados degree certificates and diplomas needed for submission to the authorities of the United Arab Emirates or in support of UAE visa applications must first be certified by a Barbados notary, then legalized by the Barbados Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Attested certificates can then be attested by the UAE Embassy in Bogota.
